Heartwood Grove School is the Richmond area's only World Language Immersion school. We are a full curriculum, non-profit, 501(c)(3) language immersion school. We aim to develop students who are highly proficient in a second language through immersion, have a good understanding of a third chosen language, and who share a profound appreciation for the humanities.
More than a language immersion school, we are a global immersion school. We aim to nurture the mind, body, and spirit of each child through outdoor science, music, the fine arts, and stewardship in the local community, while promoting self discovery in each student as (s)he grows, cherishing and promoting the journey of childhood.
Originally we provided a bilingual education in French. In 2015, we added a Spanish immersion track and in 2016 German classes were added for middle school students. We are currently conducting an Arabic feasibility study and piloting an Arabic middle school program. We offer nurturing, small classes, providing a unique opportunity to obtain language proficiency while providing individual and small group instruction tailored to our classes. Our program is interdisciplinary, integrating world cultures and the arts throughout the curriculum, while building connections to the greater Richmond community and the world.
