Familiarity with traditional, project-based, as well as alternative teaching methods (Montessori, Waldorf, Reggio Emilia, Concordia Language Village methods, etc.)
Ability to work in a multi-age/multi-level grade classroom incorporating projects, the arts, and games into the classroom
Willingness to cooperate with other teachers, staff, and parents; to share classrooms; to work with teachers for occasional blended lessons.
Special skills or interest in any of the following is a plus, but not essential: art, crafts, reading music, singing, classical dance, yoga, knitting or weaving, gardening, cooking, or simple and safe woodworking.
Good communication skills and willingness to occasionally present at assemblies.
Ability to work with small groups as well as one-on-one with students.

Phone policy:  Teachers must not use phones at anytime while teaching. Phones must be turned off and stored in a purse or personal backpack during the school day.

Physical Requirements and Disclaimer: Classrooms may be on the second floor with stair-only access.
Work is performed in a school setting and requires moderate physical movement and energy to achieve educational goals. Frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs, sitting on the floor, performing physical activities with students, and occasional lifting up to 20 pounds may be required.

We are very flexible, allowing teachers to bring their own artistic skills, project ideas, and creativity to the curriculum. We offer partial remission for children of faculty.
